How To Connect Dial Up Internet

Even if there are already different modes of connecting to the Internet, the earliest form, which is the dial-up connection, still remains to be in demand. There are two good reasons for this. First, it's the cheapest Internet service available. Second, even if it's not as fast as the others, it still allows you to connect to the World Wide Web, download, and upload media files. If you're planning to get a dial-up, then you must learn how to connect it as early as possible.

1: Look for an ISP. As its name suggests, an Internet service provider (ISP) is the one that's going to give you access to the Internet. When you're setting up your connection, you have to use your username and password, then dial their number.

There are a lot of ISPs today, providing you with different rates for their services. If you know how to pick one, you can get unlimited Internet access at a very cheap cost.

2: Make sure you have all the hardware. When you want to connect through dial-up, you need to have a phone line and a modem. The latter can be internal or external. If you're made to choose, though, it's a lot better to go with an external modem since it would be easier for you to set up a wireless Internet connection later.

3. Install the Internet connection. You don't need to be tech-savvy to get yourself hooked to the World Wide Web. If you're using Windows, for example, you simply have to go to Control Panel, Network Connections, and Add a Network Connection. A wizard will just show up, leading you all throughout the set-up process.

Here's one small tip. Disable the call waiting feature of your phone, so you can connect to the Internet continuously. You can ask for help from the technical support group of your ISP.
