Is it possible to share wireless Internet dialup in an office or a home? A lot of people would surmise that wireless sharing is only possible in broadband Internet. Well, it's not the way things are anymore.
In fact, you do have plenty of options on how you can let other computers in your area connect to the Internet, without having to deal with a lot of thick cables. You can begin with the most basic: wired router.
A router is a device known to share Internet to a lot of computers, provided that these PCs or laptops are also capable of Wifi connection.
When you want to connect a computer with a dial-up connection wirelessly, though, you need more than just a wired router. It also needs to have a wireless access point.
The setup would then require three different kinds of devices. You will have your modem, your wireless access point, and the broadband router. You also need to make sure that your modem is external so you can conveniently interconnect the hardware.
What you're going to do is to connect your wireless access point and your modem to the wired router. The former would provide the computers with the wireless connection, while the latter will make sure that there is constant Internet access.
You can also use software called Windows Internet Connection Sharing, which doesn't make use of any extra device such as a router or even an external modem, except for the main terminal that will serve as the hosts. The rest of the PCs or laptops must have their own wireless network cards.
Though it's possible for you to share your dial-up Internet connection, you must know that the speed would definitely be sluggish, considering that dial-up has slow Internet speed. Thus, you may want to limit the networking to at most 2 to 3 computers.
Faster wireless internet is possible but you have to weigh up the cost.
